El Tigre Waterfalls Monteverde
Why Visit El Tigre Waterfalls?
In 1985, the Rodríguez family faced a terrifying challenge: a jaguar was attacking their livestock, claiming over 30 cows and horses in two months. After a dramatic forest chase, Don Aurelio Rodríguez brought down the predator—and with it, a chapter of fear turned into a story of transformation.
Today, El Tigre Waterfalls stands not just as a scenic adventure, but as a symbol of conservation and coexistence. The family has reforested over 80% of their land, turning former farmland into a thriving ecosystem. Their project, El Grito del Puma y del Ganadero, protects local wild cats and supports other farmers with sustainable solutions.

"Awesome customer service!!! From Puerto Ricoo ♥️♥️"
"The check in was smooth and easy to find, the drive down was comfortable and adventurous in the 4x4. The short hike was easy and beautiful. The guides were nice and patient as I really enjoyed the view and took my time to take in the scenery and take pictures and videos, however a couple of the guides were a bit impatient/young so when they were bored they began playing/hitting on the cables and making them bounce and shake. It didn’t bother me with safety concerns, I just felt it was a bit rude and could be unnerving to others who are not accustomed to heights and harnesses. The bike zip line was a great option for more affordability and less touristy and rushed than a typical zip line tour. It was amazing to be up in the canopy and see a whole new view of the cloud forest."
"The big hike was beautiful. Highly recommend. "
"El Tigre Waterfalls hike was absolutely worth it! The trail was challenging but so rewarding — filled with lush forest, suspension bridges, and stunning waterfalls at every turn. I felt like I was walking through a real-life jungle movie. The views were breathtaking, and the trail was very well marked. The included lunch and it was delicious. If you’re in Monteverde and want an unforgettable hiking experience, El Tigre is it! Bonus: I also did the zipline bike — what a thrill! Not for the faint of heart, but 100% worth it."
"Wonderful walk in stunning scenario, and beautiful views also during the drive getting there!!"
